For a brief period in the history of Akron, Ohio, Howard Street was a hotbed of American Jazz. At the height of the rubber industry, with so many people moving into Akron, there was a need for entertainment after work. This mix of an exploding population, and rise in the popularity of jazz gave birth to the scene on Howard Street.

This film features interviews with some of the cats who were playing in the clubs of Howard Street in its heyday. Listen to the stories of Punchy Atkinson, and Jimmy Noel as they share their memories of playing and all the greats they saw playing in the clubs. As a perfect stopover between Chicago and New York, Howard Street hosted many of the great jazz musicians of the time including, Cab Calloway, Billie Holiday, and Wes Montgomery, just to mention a few!
